Hi all,
We have two nodes in cluster (active/active). The readme for SP4 mentions that it is enough to apply SP4 on one of the nodes and the SQL server will automatically identify the other nodes in the cluster and apply SP4 on all nodes. When I applied SP4 on Node1 and it did discover other nodes and everything went through fine. But when I did select @@version on Node1, the query showed 8.0.2039 (SP4) but on Node2 it was still showing the old version. Why?
Thanks
Sri

Since you are active/active, it needs to be done on each node.
What you describe applies to an active/passive configuration.
Look at your installation, do you not have two different sql server installation directories/drives? The service pack was applied to one of your installations.

Thanks nite_eagle. Yes, I did SP4 on Node2 as well and the correct version showed up on Node2. So, you mean to say if it's active/passive, SP4 needs to be applied ONLY on Active node, right?

Correct. Active/Passive apply SP once.
