Db Maintenance plan cannot take complete backup

  • HI:

I set up the database maintenance plan for all databases under one particular server. The Plan is taking backups, Integrity checks, Optimization and transaction log backups for all except one. It is not taking complete backup for that database. But Integrity checks, Optimization and transaction log backups are working. When I checked the report file, It gives the following error

    [2] Database Orthos2000: Database Backup...

        Destination: [E:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\BACKUP\Orthos2000\Orthos2000_db_200510120238.BAK]

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Deleting old text reports...    0 file(s) deleted.

End of maintenance plan 'Geodata_Orthos2000' on 10/12/2005 3:36:45 AM

SQLMAINT.EXE Process Exit Code: 1 (Failed)

I also used dbcc checkdb. It has no errors

    Killer

  • Error 112 generally indicates that there is not enough space on the disk to complete the backup and is the most likely cause.

It could also be cause by HD I/O error, broken or too long cables, SCSI driver failure, etc...

    Also check http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325334
