connecting to remote db from yukon management studio

hiya, I am having touble connecting to remote db.
The following article shows me how to connect when I am using sql2k, but I can't seem to do it from yukon management studio.
Has anyone managed to do this?

Are you trying to connect to a Yukon db, or a SQL2000 db? What error message are you getting?

Yes, SQL Server Management Studio can be used to connect to SQL Server instances (7, 2000 or 2005) both on the local machine or remote machines. What version of SQL Server 2005 are you using? What did you do that failed? Are you getting any error message, or are you just unsure of how to connect using SSMS?

hiya,

Exactly... I'm unsure of how to connect using SSMS .

I'm trying to connect:

1) TO sql2k

2) FROM sql2005 CTP 9.00.1116.00

I have noticed that there is such a thing as sqlnativeClientConfiguration --> aliases

I hope that this is my baby?I can't currently check just now because I'm on-site, but I will tonight.

Well, you do not have to configure aliases. Just start SSMS and choose to Register a New Server. Enter the connection details (don't have it in front of me so I can't say exactly, but server address, login name etc, just as in SQL2K). Then connect to that server (right-click and choose connect). Now the object browser will open with the databases etc from that server in the tree.
