Hi
I am a novice. I am moving my site to a new server. I backed up my MSDE database but I can't seem to FTP or download the backup to the new server.
How can I get the backup from one server to the other. Im hoping it is easy, Im not a programer.
Thanks

No, the servers aren't connected. They are two seperate internet servers but in the same data center.
Could it be done by remote access? If not how could I move it. Do you need any more details?
Thanks for your help.

You have to have these servers connected or you should find any way to move those backup files to the destination server. Once its done restore those databases using EM or T-SQL thats it.

If you can connect to both machines. copy the backup to your workstation, then copy it again to the destination server

Thank you. I can copy and paste in the workstation but I can't copy and paste it from one server to the other.
Could you explain how to copy the backup if not by copying and pasting?
Thanks

Can you access, the internet?
If the backup isnt that big try sending it by email? If this is not an option which I presume it isnt try this...
Did you say they were on the same domain? If so, share the folder with the files on them and then access the machine using the run command,
//server_name/shared_folder
If not,
Copy the backup file to your machine and then when it copied to your machine copy it to the destination machine,

Thank you. I never thought about emailing it. That did the trick.

OK I have the backup on the right server. I stored it in the backup folder in the SQL folder of the Program Files.
When I go to Enterprise Manager and right click on the database and try to restore it I don't get the option to select the backup file.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
