Hi,
I registered 2 analysis servers under the analysis server I have on my machine. Both of them are remote servers. The servers registered fine without any problem but one fine day one of the servers started giving connecting problem. When I try to connect to the server, there is a connecting error that says:
"Error connecting to the server
Could not connect to the repository
Could not use ";" File already in use"
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Sabitha

If you want to connect with Analysis manager not only do you have to be a
member of the OLAP administrators group you then have to give permissions to
the c:/program files/microsoft analysis services/bin folder , (the share is
called msolaprepository$) to the olap administrators group.
This should be created when you install Analysis Server automactically, but sometimes it doesn't for some reason or another.
Hope this helps,

Thank you Angela! I will check on the permissions to the folder. But I am pretty much sure that I have the necessary permissions to access that file as I could register the server and see the contents for a day but unable to access after that one day. I will try this and see...
Thank you again,

I just remembered something else that may help you. I know if you install Office XP on your machine after installing Analysis Manager, when you go to Analysis Manager you can't browse your cube. I'm not sure if this is relevant to you, but the problem is caused by DLL's installed with Office XP being older than the ones for Analysis Services and they get installed over the newer ones by default (some bug I think) Anyway if this is causing you the problems your having, the trick is to install Analysis Services AFTER you install Office XP. This will also happen if you try to install a component of Office XP, ie Pivot Table Service in Excel.
Hope this helps.
