  • One of the worlds leading webhosting/ storage/ IP companies is looking for Product Manager fo Storage Soultions.

    TOTAL COMPENSATION $110-120k

    Job Summary:

    -Provide thought leadership and manage the development of storage services.

    -Work with Clients to understand their specific requirements and recommend and implement appropriate storage solutions.

    -Manage a team of storage engineers to design, implement, and maintain the SAN and NAS infrastructure.

    -Responsible for developing streamlined operational procedures in line with industry best practices.

    -Provide technical consulting/mentoring to functional staffs and customers regarding all aspects of networked storage.

    -Be the resident ‘storage guru’ for the business unit.

    Special Skills/Experience Required:

    -Must have Excellent People management skills needed to attract, lead, and retain a strong and high impact team. Must have demonstrated track record of leading large complex cross-functional projects to on time completion.

    -Experience with developing and deploying large scale DR/BC systems.

    -Must be capable of multiplexing across multiple projects and initiatives.

    -Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and management of equipment from at-least one of the following vendors: EMC, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), IBM, Network Appliance, Brocade.

    -Hands on Admin or Developer experience with one or more of the following OS platforms: Solaris, Windows, Linux, AIX.

    -Hands on Admin experience with one or more of the following replication technologies: VVR/VSR, TSM, SRDF.

    -Must have detailed knowledge on Storage Management Software, Hardware systems, Backup, and Disaster Recovery systems from EMC, Veritas, and/or Brocade.

    -Deep rooted experience with at-least two of the following: Oracle, SQL Server, TCP/IP, IP Routers and Switches, Firewalls, Clusters.

    -Programming and scripting skills are required.

    -Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of design and implementation of Storage Area Networks for Unix and Windows environments. Experience with Mainframe Storage Systems is a plus.

    -Experience at managing a team of engineers.

  • Another example I need clarification on.

    Over here I tend to regard such job offers which advertise the compensation first of all as suspect.

    Over there a different practice?
