Hi All,
I am in the OLAP Admin group but when I browse the available cubes in Excel I can only see 13 out of 22. Some of the ones I can see have restricted access while others do not. I should be able to view all of them being an OLAP Admin.
Has anyone seen this happen before? All the cubes are processed and I cannot think of a reason why I wouldn’t be able to view them.
Thanks,
Angela

Hi Angela,
Which provider are you chosing (if there is more than 1) in the drop down list in Excel?
I have two - Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services & Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Olap Services 8.0
The one without the 8.0 is the SSOS driver (ie AS in SQL 7, i think it was called OLAP services then), the one with the 8.0 is the AS driver (from AS installed with SQL 2K).
Because of the differences in what the cubes could "do", the OlapServices(SQL7) driver shows only those cubes that would be/are usable by a V7 client.
If it's not the driver, we have had some issues with the refresh rate of the meta-data on the server, but it has been intermittant, so no real solution found.

Hi Steve,
Eventually solved this problem. The original Developer changed the 'visible' setting to false on the cube properties and forgot he'd done so. Took a while to suss this one out, but after changing the property back to 'true' the cubes appeared. I still would've thought that an OLAP Admin permission overrode these, but I guess not.
Cheers,
Angela
