Good morning all...
I have an HP3000 which runs an accounting program. I have the GL (General Ledger) dumped into a text file. I now need to get the contents of the dumped text file from the HP3000 into the tables in MS SQL. I though of using DTS. Could you possible tell me the best and most efficient way of getting this information contained in the text file into SQL or if even using DTS would be the best solution.
Any information would greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If this text file is now a comma delimited file you can dts this in to MS SQL. Possibly there is some ODBC connections to the HP3000 (image files?) that you could also use. We have done this sort of stuff occaisionaly, usually via csv files.

Thank you so much Julie... Your comments certainly were helpful. Also if anyone knows if using DTS would be the best most efficient way to import the data and/or are there other utils that anyone may be able to suggest which could possibly do a better job.
Thanks again in advance for any information
