I am having trouble with Analysis Services in MS SQL2K. The data directory is blank and I can enter the information there. Clicking on OK, it says the changes won't take effect until the Analysis Services is restarted, no big deal, stop and start the service, go back to Analysis Manager and opening the Properties of the OLAP Server shows me that field blank again.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Analysis Services, same results.
Any other ideas ?

Just out of curiosity, what service pack are you running on SQL Server and Analysis Services (they are separate service pack exe's)?

Service Pack 1 applied to Analysis Services, no SP applied to SQL.

I would try installing SP2 on both Analysis Services and SQL Server...you can download these from the Microsoft SQL Server site...

I have contacted Microsoft. Their answer solved the problem. The server in question didn't have the "Remote Registry" service started. For some enigmatic reason you need it running to be able to set OLAP data directories.
