Provide database administration support for the design, development, testing and implementation of Microsoft SQL based packages and systems that support the trading floor, electronic trading systems, and internet applications. Backup support of Oracle based systems will also be necessary. The candidate will participate in the full life cycle of relational database design and implementation, including logical and physical design of all database objects. Monitoring database performance and automating alerts when thresholds are reached will also be required.
1. Provide DBA support for design, testing, and implementation for SQL Server, and Oracle based applications
2. Perform on-call support for production databases.
3. Insure backup and recovery procedures are customized, tested and implemented.
4. Perform proactive monitoring.
5. Provide coverage for other members in their absence.
6. Keep technical skills current on all supported platforms.
Five years of experience in Microsoft SQL server Administration Microsoft SQL server v6.5 through SQL Server 2000 is required. Experience must be on both NT and SUN Solaris platforms. Ability to do capacity planning, use of Transact-SQL, and transactional replication are a must. Advanced Queueing, PL/SQL procedures, and Oracle Enterprise Manager are a plus.
