Hi ..
I am unable to configure , because I am getting 2 server names like
1) I connect Server using IP address then
try to get the name using SELECT @@servername - I get PVK1
But when i try to connect server using PVK1 (server name ) i am unable to connect
2) I connect same Server using IP address then
try to get the name using SELECT 'ServerName', SERVERPROPERTY('ServerName')
I get JUST - PVK
Here i want to configure replication , but it gives me error Use servername
using SERVER 2000, Client Machine SQL SERVER 2005 , with XP Prof

Are the servers in the same domain?
Also if you do a nslookup Servername from command prompt what do you get?
Can you ping or telnet to the servers with the name? Something to do with the naming resolution of servers

Yeah, it sounds like a name resolution issue. As Roy suggested, check if the two servers are the same domain. If not, you may need to make an alias or use a hosts file for resolution to the IP so your server knows who PVK is.
