Hello,
I have been attempting to configure SQL Mail using SMTP. To date I have completed the following :-
1. Created an SMTP entry, SQLAgent is running under a domain account that I am logged on with.
2. Installed MS Outlook 2000 onto the server and confirmed that it can send / receive email.
3. When I manually send a test email from Enterprise manager the email goes into the Outlook outgoing mail server. I then have to manually click send for it to be distributed.
4. The profile I created in Outlook cannot be entered into the SQLMail Mail session window. The only available option is Microsoft Outlook Internet settings. If I do try and type the profile name it is not saved.
5. Running the query exec xp_get_mail_profiles returns "Microsoft outlook Internet settings" and not the profile I created in Outlook.
Any guidance on how I resolve my issue.
Many thanks,
Nick

Hey ... instead of install outlook on the server check out ..
http://sqldev.net/xp/xpsmtp.htm
This will let you talk directly to SMTP server without having to expose your SQL Server to security issues around outlook. And alot easier to configure/use.
Thanks.
