How many stored procedures can a database have?

  • Any limitation?

  • I don't recall any limit to the number of objects that can exist in the database except in the case of MSDE (Desktop Edition) which was a DB size limit not specifically objects. As many objects can be supported as you can think of.

  • Thank you for your reply.  I am wondering whether it is up to 2,147,483,647 before overflow occurs as the ID column in sysobjects is int data type.  I can not find any specs on this.

I noticed that some id ranges seem be reserved.  The actual number should be less than 2,147,483,647 then.

  • That number is correct... check in Books Online under "specifications-SQL Server objects"

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
