SQL Development in many developers environment

  • Hi,

I work for a company with a few more people on my team, we develop a web application of which a big part is the database. The question is how do you manage multiple people working on the database development.

In our environment, each developer has his/her own copy of the DB and develops it, while needed to update it with other peoples changes on a continuing basis.

Currently we have a custom tool, written internal, that runs the scripts that people submit into a repository (our change management software), and hopefully when you run the tool it will run the correct scripts in the correct order and update your database and not ruin it.

We are trying to think of ways of improving this, does anyone have any suggestions? we would like an as much as fool-proof system as possible (knowing saddly that this is probably not possible) - any experiences of do or don't do would be appriciated... including software used or different approaches.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Another out of memory exception apparently!!!!!
