Merge SQL 2000 Vs SQL 7

  • Hi all,

One thing I noticed, same database put on 2 diff servers and published on them servers one is running SQL 2000 and the othere is running SQL 7.

I am connecting thru two different vpn providers, One C..(C) and the other Nor...(N)

When I use C and connect to SQL 2000 server I always get this message "The agent is suspect no response within last 10 minutes" but with (N) I don't get this message.

I tried to replicate the same by connecting to SQL 7 and that went thru good for both (C & N).

Before U jump into conclusion and say a coinsidence,(I have 30-40 days test results).

Well the point is not that. what I noticed here is

    ----

    Initialize...

    Processing....

    ...

    no data to be merged....

    Downloaded.......

    Downloaded.......

    Downloaded.......

    ................. A couple of them.

and then when the merge agents does it stuff... for an end statement like this

"Merged 6853 data changes (3730 inserts, 2860 updates, 263 deletes, 1 resolved conflicts)."

Most of the sync's fail here when used (C)any idea's or suggestions..

the other in SQL 7 I use to see in the Merge_History table "Bulk copied ......." in SQL 2000 I don't see it.

I see only "Uploaded......" & "Downloaded....." any suggestions if I missed something here.

  • If you open Enterprise manager on the machine that gives you the error and then go to the Replication Monitor and check the refresh rate settings you will find that it has been set to 10 minutes. If you change it to a higher number you probably won't get this message. I have mine set to 500 as all my replication is done on demand only.
