Mixed language in event description ?!

  • I have across this weird issue on one of my reporting server.

Whenever the event ID 108 is logged on the machine, it is logged in mixed language -

    Event Type:Error

    Event Source:Report Server (MSSQLSERVER)

    Event Category:延伸模組

    Event ID:108

    Date:1/27/2009

    Time:1:11:59 AM

    User:N/A

    Computer:computer name

    Description:

Report Server (MSSQLSERVER) 無法載入 Report Server DocumentLibrary 延伸模組。[/i]

All other events logged are in full english, only this event is in english/chinese(or japanese) combination. I checked the registry entry for SQL in regedit and it shows key 1033 (english)

Since this is not an error, I am not able to find much information on the internet.

    The link - http://members.microsoft.com/wincg/mtcf_glossary.aspx? s=4&langid=1359&cult=en-us

has reference to some of the chinese words. However that has not helped in understanding why this issue would start and how to resolve.

How do I find the cause and resolve if this is not a temporary language pack glitch ?

I have not rebooted the server yet. The OS is Windows Server 2k3.

    Comments, feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ninad Soman

  • It's not a custom made event of some sort is it? (Is there such a thing in SSRS?)

  • Nope its not custom. It started 3 days back, till then it was logging normally.

All other SQL related events are also normal.

  • I'm sure you already checked this, but did anything unusual happen to the server about 3 days ago? A patch maybe?
