Merry Christmas 2018

  • Steve, and all on the site, I to wish you a Merry Christmas.  Even at my soon-to-be 76 years, I still enjoy the emails and the conversations with all of you.  And I am just now setting up a new set of Bose speakers my wife just gave me for our home office sound system that contains our digital collection.  CD's are long since packed away in storage.

For those of you having to work today, or having to be on-call for support, you have my good wishes.  Been there, done that.  I hope someday you too will be blessed with a wonderful time of your life where you don't have to do that, but your time can be your own.  Three of our four sons are following in the family tradition of IT pursuits, and the fourth is working today, already handling several service calls, so that his employees can have the holiday off.   We're proud of them all.

  • My wife and I got the kids a Beagle puppy from a local pet shelter for Christmas, so this holiday was extra special. 🙂

  • Eric, congrats on the new family addition. Does he/she have a name yet?  Canine friends do add so much love to our lives.  Our 12-year-old Golden, Lupe (Pinecreek's Rocky Mountain Lupine) brightens our day with her constant attention and 'herding' us around the house, most happy when we are in the same room.  We have a custom of sitting on the deck or porch late afternoon to share a glass of wine, and as soon as I stop in front of our home bar cabinet, she is at the front door, waiting nose-to-the-crack.  If I don't go that way, she races to the back deck door while looking over her shoulder to see if I'm following.  Our handicap-accessible home now has sliding doors, and her latest accomplishment is to open these with her nose.  There goes our privacy....

I hope the house-breaking process goes well.  If you are lucky, it will just take a few days, much easier than our children were!  We accomplished this by keeping her in a very small cage by the bedside and taking her out as soon as she stirred.  Seems they don't like to do their 'duty', as a friend says, in their own space.

Congrats! We got one a few months ago. Glad there are people taking care of animals that are in need.

We've only had her a couple of weeks, and it's all a new experience for our family. My impression of the Beagle breed so far is that they are very active, smart, and have long sharp teeth which they use to nip and grasp. I know it's just being playful, but first thing in the morning when I'm putting her leash on to take a walk, it's like trying to handle a wild squirrel. 🙂
