I installed a 3'rd party SFTP control from CozyRoc. At that point, I could no longer load BIDS. So, I uninstalled the control, did me no good, still same problem. tried going back to a restore point (does that ever work, sure not for me). I re-installed VS2008 SP1, no help.
Here's the error:
===================================
Error creating package (Microsoft Visual Studio)
===================================
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {AA40D1D6-CAEF-4A56-B9BB-D0D3DC976BA2} failed due to the following error: 800700c1. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS)

at Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Wizards.Dts90WizardSaveNewTask.CreateAndAddPackageToProject()

Anybody have any ideas on this one? Thanks!

Will visual studio start at all?
Or does it only fail when trying to open a specific package?

Yea, VS Starts, but if I try to create a new package, or open any existing package, I get the error.
I just got passed it. I got a System Restore to work in safe mode, and I'm back in business. I restored to right before I installed the CozyRoc control and the error is gone
I sure would like to know what the problem was though. I'd like to be able to use that control. It seems pretty nice for SFTP which I have to do a lot of. I'm afraid to try installing it again.
I hope this helps someone else. I also posted on the CozyRoc site. If I get an answer, I'll definitely post it.

Hi,
There is Windows 7 x64 compatibility issue. We are working with the Microsoft team to resolve this problem. The instructions how to fix it manually are posted in the FAQ page: http://www.cozyroc.com/ssis/faq

Good to see that you have it working again. It looks like CozyRoc knows about the issue and has a solution on their site too.

Thanks. I searched a forum over on CrazyRoc, but I didn't find what I was looking for. I didn't see the FAQ's. I'll head over there.
I've come to lean on SSC pretty hard. I always get quick, detailed help from people that know the subject matter very well!
