You can use Maintenance plan.

we use no maintenance plans but schedule our own backup jobs using sqlagent. In the past there have been troubles with MPs, and many people switched to their own controlable solutions.
This also gives us the ability to make several log backups in between the periods of consequent full backups.

What kind of issues you got from MP?
I have been using MP for at least 3years. So far so good. (Here, I mean BACKUP only, not for others maintenance jobs.)
(The exception is that on one or two servers, the MP can't delete the history text file. A bit annoying, but is fine.)

MPs were the most "forgotten" topic with hotfixes and service packs. (e.g. the sql2005 sp2 fiasco having a CU1 within the week)

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. I was able to create a maintainance plan. However I was not able to figure out
how I could create a backup and rewrite an previous days backup.
How can we rewrite it?
Please let me know.
Thank you

#1 I wouldn't delete the old backup untill the new one is done and verified.
#2 You can add a step to delete the old backups IE files older than 23 hours or 47 hours if you want to have 2 backups in place.
