We are currently using Ray Cardillo's "Double Metaphone" for phonetic name matching, and would like to upgrade to the newly released "Metaphone 3" (http://amorphics.com/buy_metaphone3.html). Unfortunately, the code is written in PL/SQL and we are operating in a T-SQL environment. Is anyone aware if "Metaphone 3" was translated to T-SQL, or if there is a simple way to translate the PL/SQL code to T-SQL?

Please purchase a copy of Metaphone 3 before porting it to T-SQL - If you have an authorized copy, you will be registered and available for free upgrades and bargains. Also, Metaphone 3 requires an additional Resale License if you will be incorporating the Metaphone 3 code or algorithm in a product for resale or on a web page that requires a fee to access.

Are there any plans to release a version of "Metaphone 3" in T-SQL? We will not be including the code in a product or web page.

Thank you for inquiring! I'm afraid a T-SQL version is a little farther down the projects list than some of our other versions - we are about to release a PERL version, for example - but we will see if we can get to it sometime in the next year or so. However, if you would like to volunteer to do the port, we might be able work out a price break for you!

I am not sure that I can do the port, but hopefully someone on this forum will read the message and port it for you. I will keep my eye on the website for any updates.
