Hello,
I have SQL Server 2005 Express edition on Windows Vista and for some reason I can't view the Maintenance Plan option.
I have searched on-line and found several topics about this that suggested I added the user into the sysadmin role.
I don't know how many times I have tried but I can't seem to find it. Initially I thought I missed something during installation so I uninstalled and installed it several times. I'm new at this and I'll try any advice you can give me.
Thank you.

Maintenance plans are not available in the Express Edition - which also does not have SQL Server Agent.
You have two options:
1) Upgrade to an edition that supports maintenance plans and SQL Server Agent
2) Use Task Scheduler and scripts to manage your backups.
