You may have seen over the past couple days that the call for speakers was extended to April 24, 2009, and I know several people contacted me asking "why". Absolutely we didn't do a good job of explaining that, but there was a method to the madness. Last night MS announced that the 2009 BI Conference had been canceled (see here for details) and in that recommended the PASS Summit as one of the alternatives. By extending the call for speakers we're giving speakers that had intended to participate in the BI conference a chance to consider participating in the Summit this year. Taking a deeper view, this is a great opportunity to strengthen our ties with MS and the MS BI team and to demonstrate the value we bring to the BI portion of the SQL Server community.
